Elizabeth and Annabel went on a genealogical mission into Chicago, Wednesday. We visited the South Suburban Genealogical and Historical Society, in Hazel Crest IL, a veritable jackpot of resources, including:

A photocopy of the Simon Dekker “History of Roseland and vicinity” (rare)
An extensive index of Cook County cemeteries
Several handmade books about the DeJong family
Where the Trails Cross (some issues mention our family)

South Suburban Genealogical and Historical Society — Annabel, Elizabeth, and Laurie at the SSGHS Library

We also met a distant cousin, Laurie Coolidge (above) who was very knowledgable and helpful in our search. I can’t wait to come back and spend more time at the library!
