Elizabeth and Annabel went on a genealogical mission into Chicago, Wednesday. We visited the South Suburban Genealogical and Historical Society, in Hazel Crest IL, a veritable jackpot of resources, including:
- A photocopy of the Simon Dekker “History of Roseland and vicinity” (rare)
- An extensive index of Cook County cemeteries
- Several handmade books about the DeJong family
- Where the Trails Cross (some issues mention our family)
We also met a distant cousin, Laurie Coolidge (above) who was very knowledgable and helpful in our search. I can’t wait to come back and spend more time at the library!
